I was going through my notes on this little game design I was working on and it's full of cool ideas, but it's a mess of numbers and the character creation system needs to be reworked a bit.
I'm gonna use this thread to share some concepts about the game and I'm definitely looking for feedback on this.
More to come (once I sort through a mess of loose papers and vague system theories) |

Here is a glossary that I've been working on for the game. Enjoy!
BLOODLYNES RPG
GLOSSARY:
HUMAN - Humans are the people who are not connected to the Bloodlynes. They are civilians, commoners and live under the rule of the local nobility. They often count on the local Anima to protect them from harm. Humans live to about 100 years old. Some venerable humans can live to 160.
DEMON - Servants of the Anima. Their devotion is without question and a Demon family will often serve an Anima family for generations. The hierarchy of Demons is defined both by the prestige of the Anima family they serve and their own display of power. Strength defines the hierarchy among Demon families, so that the old Demons always give room to the new generations. Demons live to an average of a 1000 years old. Some ancient Demons can live to be 1500.
ANIMA - The members of the Bloodlynes are refered to as Anima, by Humans and Demons. They also refer each other as Anima, unless the specific Bloodlyne is known, in which case the name of the Bloodlyne will be used. Though they age, Anima do not die of old age, but after 300 years, they often choose to return to their ancestor and become part of the Qlippoth.
QLIPPOTH - The shell of an Ancient. Qlippa are the physical manifestation of the Ancients' mind and will often reflect the consciousness of the Ancient that created them, as worlds protected against the Void. A Qlippoth offers the Anima and their human servants land to live and prosper. When Anima decide to return to their Ancestor, their life get absorbed into the Qlippoth, and the body disappears, manifesting itself into a wood, a lake, a hill or a mountain: it literally becomes a physical landmark of the Qlippoth. Thus, long Bloodlynes have more land on which to grow and expand.
BLOODLYNE: The power of the Ancients flows through the veins of the Anima. The Anima can trace back their connection to the 12 Ancients through the Bloodlyne of their family.
THAUMATURGE: This term refers to one of the original 65 people involved in the ritual to unleash the true Chaos to fight the end of time. Out of the 65, only 12 survived. Those survivors are known as Ancients.
ANCIENTS: The twelve Thaumaturges who survived the Great Chaos. Their minds became irrational things, the sources of Chaos itself, whereas their bodies turned into shells, or Qlippa, holding the Chaos empowered mind of the original Thaumaturge. Sometimes, great sorcerers who can unleash Chaos are sometimes called Thaumaturge – a rare compliment.
AVATAR: The physical embodiment of an Ancient Thaumaturge. The first Avatars where great masters of their realms and formed the original Bloodlynes. _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage

PRINCE: The leading heir of a Principality. Prince refers to a male or female leader alike.
PRINCIPALITY: Most Qlippa are organized around poles of reality so as to fight Entropy better. Large Bloodlynes revolve around Principalities, which in turn answer to the King and Queen of each original Bloodlyne.
PROVINCE: New Bloodlynes not powerful enough to maintain a Principality are called Provinces. The Player-Characters start the game as rulers of a small Province.
COURT: The Kings and Queens of the twelve Bloodlynes rule their individual Courts as they please, but always with the legacy of their Bloodlyne and the maintaining of the Qlippoth in mind.
VOID: The forces of entropy border the provinces dangerously and make the Anima and Demon kind the only ones able to traverse the void between Qlippa. Void is a phenomenon that can possess aspects of all kinds of people and things through which it influences the world from within. People and Anima can eventually become possessed by the Great Void and become its agents and minions. Demons affected by the Void simply perish as their chaotic nature withers too quickly to be possessed.
CHAOS: The forces of creation unleashed to fight entropy were the saving elements that transformed the Thaumaturges into the original Qlippa, thus giving birth to new worlds and a chance for life to continue on, pushing back the waves of destructive void. Chaos runs through the veins of the Anima and Primordial Chaos is the birthplace and habitat of Demons; even the Anima cannot withstand Primordial Chaos as the raw forces of creation can prove quite destructive as well because they unmake things to create them again and again. _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage
