"We'll fetch him after we're done here," she finally decides while kicking hay away from the trap door. "Or his sister. They've both seen 'em."

Wyatt nods.

She wraps her hands in metal ring of the door and pulls. "Reckon we're gonna need light down here. Fetch those lamps off tha wall, would ya?"

Wyatt does and lights both of them, hands one to Rebecca and the look on his face reflects curiosity and amazement. "It's really magic, what ya folks can do... We been here how many times? Shit..."

She grins and nudges him with her shoulder. "Aw, ya have magic all yer own, darlin'."

Rebecca swings around onto the ladder and lowers herself down into the space. At the bottom, she waits for Wyatt before proceeding. "I'm almost afraid ta ask, but what 'bout Maggie Mae, Sam, Zek, the other folks that've been 'round fer years?"

"Ha!" he exclaims at her magic comment.

When she asks, he grows quiet for a brief moment, "Best not ta ask till it's all over, darlin'. But since ya already did, Sam and Maggie are still 'round. Both of them left a month ago, when most people did..."

She closes her eyes and sighs. "Damn. I wonder'd why I didn't see that hound of Sam's on the porch, or see Maggie in the kitchen. Those're two I never thought would willin'ly leave, no matter what." Rebeca doesn't ask further about Zek. She probably doesn't want to know. She steps further into the space, looking over the supplies for the medical things.

"T said all those folks outside were from differ'nt places. Same things drive 'em here that drove off folks from Silver City?"

"As far as we know... The Lone Pine's not yet bin attacked so folks come up every naw and again. That's why that mark thing's got me worried, but we'll know soon enough." He goes into the supply space below with her and starts looking through things.
"Those machines are weird and dangerous as all hell, and once folks found out it was kids in there, thangs just got a lot tougher, ya know?" He bites his lips and begins opening lids to dusty crates.

"What do we get outta there first, ya think? The med stuff? Is there thangs ya'll need ta bring on yer trip?"

"I think this is all fer ya'll," Rebecca says as she moves through the stacks of foodstuffs and crates of dynamite. "Finn didn' say he was workin' stuff fer our mission inta this. Reckon we should start with the medical supplies. Need to bring wagons 'round fer the rest ta carry it down to tha caves."

Wyatt nods and says, "Let's do that, and when we're done with med supplies, I'll start organizin' people for the big move. We'll work thru the night if we need ta. We'll start by releasin' the horses I guess." He turns to her and grins, jokingly saying, "And then we marry at midnight, right before ya take off for tha honeymoon on yer own?"

"I done told ya, I'm stayin' a coupla days," she says stubbornly. "Finn can kiss my ass if'n he wants ta make an issue of it. 'Her Highness' outranks 'His Grace', and Her Highness is goin' ta spend at least her weddin' night with her husband."

He laughs, "And for a weddin' bed, we'll have the big soft rock from that cozy cleft in the cavern. Do ya reckon we still fit through? It's... been a while." he says looking at his gut, or lack thereof.

...

Wyatt starts humming a tune from their childhood as he picks up a box and makes his way around a large crate of food, then back up the steps.

"Balls ta that," she laughs. "I say we pay that treehouse one more visit." She hefts up a crate marked "meds" and heads for the ladder.

"Why don' I hand things up to ya? Least till Doc gets out here, then we both can move up."

Toward the opening, Wyatt yells, "Alright, go ahead and..." *click*

Rebecca hears the sound of a handgun being cocked, then two steps forward. "Put tha crate down, Wyatt. Slowly."
Rebecca doesn't recognize the voice right away, but her brain clicks too. Hank McCoy. Wyatt and Hank, another rancher and cowboy, had never been in agreement over anything and they settled the score long ago, in the streets of Silver City, or so she and Wyatt thought. Until now.

Rebecca freezes, slowly lowering the crate she's carrying to the ground. Silently she shrugs out of her duster and draws her own pistol. She tosses her hat over to one of the stacks. Then she unfurls her whip, flicking it quietly up a few ladder rungs while holding the other end in her hand.

Up. Stop at the top

She looks up at the ceiling, trying to determine through the spaces in the floorboards where Hank is as she starts top climb, putting her weight on the outer edges of the rungs to stop the wood from creaking, and keeping her head down until she can determine where the bastard is. Threaten her people on her land, would he?

Hank was a tall and lean fellow with smooth shoulder-length black hair and a thin mustache, only now he looks a bit different. he has a three-day stubble and shortly cropped hair. His clothes are different and in his hands is his father's famous gun.

Snake slithers slowly to where Wyatt puts down the crate. The crate cleverly gives cover to Rebecca as she climbs.

Wyatt turns around and Rebecca can hear the sly smile in his voice when he says, "Well, well, well. Hank McCoy 'imself. I didn't reco'nize ya without yer pretty boy mustache."

Hank has his gun pointed at Wyatt's chest, he stands at the barn door that he shut and locked behind him. Hank smiles, "And I didn't recognize ya without yer pretty boy face... Remove yer gun, slowly... And kick it over here."

"Don' be a coward naw, Hank," Wyatt says with perhaps a bit less of a smile, unbuckling his gun belt slowly.

Bastard, Rebecca scowls at the dig to Wyatt. She narrows her eyes, assessing the scene. If she can catch Hank by surprise, the shit she fires will cause him to jerk his arm, missing Wyatt's chest, but she doesn't like the odds of where it might go off to.

Snake, trip Wyatt. Pull towards me so he'll fall to the other side. On the count of three

Hopefully, Wyatt would realize what was coming up the back of his boot and wrapping around his shin and won't fight the jerk of the whip.

One...

She eyes Snake's progress.

Two...

She aims for Hank's shoulder. The jerk of impact should yank his aim off towards the wall if she angles it right. She'd rather shot him in the face, but that would make his arm jerk upwards

Three...

Rebecca fires, leaping from her cover to put herself between Hank and Wyatt, and ready to put another into the man if he isn't down.

Hank's shot hits a wooden beam, shaking some of the dust off of it. His shoulder is limp, blood pouring out of the hole over his light brown shirt, and he mutters obscenities as he reaches for his fallen gun with his left hand while attempting to roll out of the way.

Rebecca has clear shots to just about anywhere she would want to hit before he reaches the back of a crate.

Wyatt reaches for his gun, Snake having released his legs right away.
