Hello everyone!

In an effort to provide fans of Amber Diceless and of the Amber Chronicles by monumental author Roger Zelazny, I am delighted to announce the first AmberCon Arizona!

Welcome and enjoy the forum, where most of the Convention activity will be developped! If you are interested in helping this new con take off, feel free to PM me.

Thank you!

The plan:
Accomodate 7 game slots, 60+ attendees, celebrate the work of Roger Zelazny and Erick Wujcik's Amber Diceless Role Playing.
Promote other Diceless games and settings, especially indie-games.
Get together and have fun!

When:
Friday afternoon to Sunday night. Dates to be determined but likely to be a week-end in september.

Where:
Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

What up NM?
Greetings to all those who are looking forward to this awesome opportunity for some Amber Gaming!

Let's make this a concentrated effort and put our all into it.
This is a chance to help take the reins and co-create the AmberCon you've always wanted.
Be instrumental - get in-touch with Nihilistic Mind and let him know how you can help.

My Game will revolve around the boarder war of Chaos and Avalon.
I'm not certain whether it will have Chaos or Amber/Avalon PCs, but perhaps that will be up to the players choices.
Maybe even both, we'll see.
Looking for about 8-10 players in this one, and it'll could run 1/2 a day. (Sat. evening slot trying for).
If you are a player who is interested in this session, just respond with your interest and I'll keep you on the preliminary list.

Thanks for your time... All hail the new AZ-Con.
Wink

Gabriel

Updated 'the plan' to accomodate for something that was pointed out to me: AmberCon NW will be in early november. In an effort not to compete with other AmberCons, especially one as close geographically as AmberCon NW, we are likely to move this con to September.

There is also the possibility of having the first AmberCon Arizona be a part of another Arizona Convention... There are several Gaming or Sci-Fi/Fantasy litterary cons in Arizona. One of them is the notable CopperCon, another is Phoenix ConGames.

If we can't make it happen as a sort of mini-con this year (as part of a larger arizona convention), we will organize a smaller (30-35 people) this year. Gaming in suites won't be an issue then, since it will be a small enough Con to handle.

Either way, the goal is to have a start-up AmberCon in 2008, and create a backbone for a 'hopefully' stand-alone full on AmberCon Arizona in 2009.

Discuss! Smile

Doing a mini-con first sounds like a great idea.

With both AmberCon UK (started 1993) and AmberCon NW (started 1997) we jumped straight in, and we ended up with a coincidentally identical 45 initial attendees. The following year for ACNW hit 70-something, and we've remained in the 90's (peaking at 102) since then.

If the hotels in your area are less flexible about group contracts, having an idea how many people to expect before you book will be very helpful for you.

I have found a great resource for booking for groups and some hotels around the valley of the sun don't penalize if not all room blocks are used, which is quite nice.

I'm gonna run 3 Amber Diceless events at Phoenix ConGames and promote this forum and AmberCon Arizona as much as possible during that time.

I am close friends with the people who will be running the gaming section of CopperCon 28 (http://www.casfs.org/cucon/) so if I can bring them more people and have them host a sort of Mini-AmberCon Arizona (perhaps we'll call it AmberCon Arizona 0), I'm gonna go for it.
If it happens, it'll be a matter of promoting the ADRPG there, get people involved and setting a definite date for AmberCon Arizona 1! Smile
