Eventually, Tristan makes his way to the cabin where the newlyweds enjoyed their night-long honeymoon.

"Mornin'," he says to the pair, cheerfully, from the back of his horse, stopping two dozen feet from the cabin so that the horses can greet each other properly. "Yer brother's well, Wyatt. He'll come back ta consciousness soon accordin' ta Doc Dee." Then looking at Rebecca, "I hate ta be tha one ta end yer nestin' but ya ought ta know: some of tha machines have bin sight'd... They were headin' the direction of tha ranch, but it looks like Finn and the others have felled many of them as they rode past Silver City... I don't imagine that direction'll be safe fer ya ta take for a few days when things hopefully settle down... I know ya can't linger here, but I thought I'd let ya know anyhow." Uncle T removes his hat and smoothes his silver hair back then sets his hat back on.

Rebecca untangles herself from a smug looking Wyatt, giving him a kiss before moving back to the seat beside him. She runs fingers through her tossled hair and smiles at Tristan's greeting. But the frown comes back at the news of the contraptions from Silver City.

"How far in are they likely ta come if they decide ta head this way?" she asks as she stands. She straightens her rumpled shirt, her eyes scanning the horizon. "When are they most active?"

Then she shakes her head. "Ya can tell me that later. How are things in the warrens?"

"Very good so far... People're already restless but they'll adapt I'm sure. I s'ppose time'll tell. We've got better chances now than before ya'll arrived," Tristan says.

"Reckon there's no reason they have ta stay in all the time. A body needs fresh air and sunlight." She bends down to retrieve her coffee, then makes a face when she realizes it's cold. "Long as there's scouts out watchin'."

Rebecca looks over at Wyatt and smiles. "Go catch a coupla hours of rest, darlin'. I promise not ta sneak off while ya sleep."

A sleepy-eyed Wyatt kisses her and caresses her back and walks into the cabin after whispering something to her, "I miss ya."

Uncle T looks at Rebecca and says, "T'was only tha first night, they'll be used ta it if they need ta. We will scout the lands near ta Silver City and keep an eye on thangs. What time are ya thinkin' a'leavin'?"

Rebecca watches over her shoulder as Wyatt goes inside. She smiles when she shoves her hands in her back pockets and looks back at Tristan.

"Hadn't made up my mind yet. Right tempin' to stay until Finn calls fussin'. Not until this afternoon, at least. Need to try and call Dad again before I do."

She collects her hat from the hook by the door and steps off into the grass. Demon comes trotting up and she strokes his neck. "Stay here and keep an eye on things while Wyatt naps." The stallion gives her a baleful look, tosses his mane and saunters around back.

"There's a couple of things I'd like to take with me from the house. Harland Family tree, for one. Can't replace it if anything happens to the house." Rebecca looks up at Tristan while adjusting her hat. "I'm telling you the same thing I told Wyatt; I don't care if there's a post left standing on this land when I get back. We can rebuild everything, but I can't replace you. Dead heroes don't do it for me."

Tristan nods, "Hidden but alive..."

"Let's head over and see what we wanna take inta tha warrens, then..." Tristan scratches his mustache. "Sorry 'bout yesterday... I was in a bad place... In any case, ya need'n't worry 'bout me an Wyatt bein' heroes. You ain't gone but I look forward ta your return." He smiles a fatherly smile.

"So do I," she nods. She looks up t at the mountains and inhales deeply. "So do I."

Moving beside Tristan's horse, she holds up her hand. "Give a girl a ride?" She cuold easily walk, but it has been a long time since she rode with Uncle T. Unicorn only knew how long it would be before she could again.

Tristan smiles and offers his hand to help her up, more to be kind than anything else since they both know she can get on without his help.

Once she climbs into the small space on the saddle behind him, he whispers a word of encouragement to his mount and they begin making their way to the ranch. The air is breezy and quite cool in comparison to the day before.

Tristan is quiet for the most part but eventually gets around to a difficult question. "What changed yer mind 'bout marryin' Wyatt in tha end?"

She has been expecting she would have to address that at some point, so she isn't caught completely off guard. Still, she takes a moment to frame her response.

"I somehow managed ta fool myself inta thinkin' ya'll'd not be effected by the Black Road. Even in my head, I knew it would somehow touch on this place, my heart still seemed ta think you all would be safe here. That Wyatt would be here safe -- and waiting. Then I come in and find he's been hurt. Seriously. At least once, and just waitin' for his brother to die, and you were in a bad place yesterday. Never seen ya like that. By tha time I heard about what all had happenedI nearly lost my dinner, it all scared me so bad. Then Hank pulled his stunt..."

She sighs. "I guess what I'm tryin' ta say is I always thought I had time ta get back to it, and yesterday I was confronted with tha fact that was just not clear thinkin'. That tha time I have isn't the time Wyatt has, and if I want ta grab anything at all, I have ta do it now. Like Dad told me ta do back when Wyatt asked me tha first time."

She pauses a moment and then chuckles ruefully. "Or I could just tell ya I love him. Which is true."

"I knew ya lov'd him, but I couldn't decide what prompted you to go through with it in tha end." Tristan quiets down for several moments then says after a sigh, "About yesterday, I... I feel like some sorta fog's bin lifted. Somethin' was weighin' on me in an impossible manner. I know you don' want us to focus our energy preserving the Lone Pine, but it's gonna be hard not ta do somethin' if these foul machines begin pillaging the area..." He adds before she can say anything, "But don' worry. We'll let it be. Hidden but alive."

As they get closer to the Lone Pine, Rebecca can feel the psychic field effect she'd felt last night, before her cousins rode out of Cimarron. It is faint, but the range seems to have increased.

While she isn't as proficient in the mental arts as some, Eric did manage to teach her a few things. She eases her mental barriers up while thinking of a broken fence and leans closer to Tristan. "Whoa," she says lowly in her step-father's ear. "Back up tha horse a few yards. Even with that pasture fence."

He looks around curiously and seeing it, does as he is told. The psychic field seems non-existent as soon as Rebecca closes her mind to it.

She looks back in the direction of Silver City before she speaks to Tristan.

"I don't know if it's tha cause of your fog, but there's some sort of psychic field comin' from tha City. It's expanded it's range since yesterday, but it seems ta be focused on the ranch proper. I didn't notice it just now until we got closer to tha house. Don't know what it's doin' either. Yesterday it was pretty loud when we went into tha house to check Zach before the others left. Kade told us about it while we were leavin' tha barn when it was low. I reckon they're spyin', but they seemed focus on tha area of tha house."

She frowns as she considers their actions yesterday. "I think I'll wait ta try and call Dad until after I leave. No point in bringin' more attention ta ya'll then I have already."
