Character Name: Finn (Finnleagh, His Grace, The Duke of Avalon)

Physical Description:

The card you hold feels cold to the touch, and the art upon it so vivid and real, you immediately wonder at how the artist was able to capture this moment in paints and pasteboard.

As serious in demeanor as his Father, Finnleagh is handsome though stern, his long hair is so black, it gives of blue highlights, and his eyes burn an intense green. He shares his Father’s build, according to his Uncle, tall and lithe, though Finn seems a bit heavier, a bit broader in the shoulder. Muscled like a slim hunting cat or a dancer, and moving with unconscious grace, Finn gives off a calculating and dangerous aura, even in this still pose, that belies his usually calm demeanor.

He dresses simply, yet elegantly, in armor and colors of black, silver and gold with a cloak wrapped about his shoulders. In his capable hands, he carries two katana, exquisite examples of the weapon.

Character History:

Finnleagh is known in Amber, by the reputation he’s made for himself, and in part, the reputation of his Mentor. He is a swift and cunning swordsman, a fact that has not gone unnoticed, and a devastating Martial Artist. It is no secret that Finnleagh arrived out of New Avalon, where Benedict is known as Warlord. He arrived bearing the title of Duke, and has made no claim in Amber to any particular lineage or Birthright. It is unclear whether he has taken the Pattern, or if he is simply the gifted vassal of the Eldest Prince.

He seems to enjoy the company of Julian, and while he does not seem to laugh often, if he is -- he is likely in the company of Gerard. Finn does not feel a need to be well known. He does not travel the social circles, though he has an eye and a kind word for women that interest him. Finn has, however, been largely accepted into the Royal Court. He has been seen wrestling with Gerard, hunting with Julian, and sparring with the King. He has had extensive discourse with Fiona, drank competitively with Bleys (who is another that can makes him laugh), and played Chess with Caine. He's learned proper ballroom dancing from Florimel, taking those lessons as serious as any other, and has read anything in the Library that Brand took the time to recommend.

Finn is a private man, and seems more than willing to aid Amber when she is in need.

Personality:

He is not difficult to know, if approached in a straightforward manner. He dislikes prevarication, a trait he shares with his Teacher. He is of the opinion that actions speak louder than words, and has no trouble at all proving his point with a delivered bruise or cut. He is generally speaking, calm and cool, and almost zen-like in his unflappability.

Character Name: Rebecca James

Physical Description: Tanned and toned, Rebecca stands at 5'11" in her bare feet; Eric's daughter is a tall, leggy woman. Handling horses isn't a job for the dainty, and her well toned and defined musculature is proof of that. High cheekbones and a strong jaw inherited from her father combine with the sun-streaked dark brown hair worn shoulder length and smoldering golden brown eyes of her mother to make Rebecca a stunning young woman. Since her arrival in Amber, she has not been seen without a pair of boots and rarely without a hat, or wearing anything fancier then her jeans. She still wears her pearl handled six-shooter more often then not, even if it doesn't work in Amber it still gets her point across. She speaks with a cowgirl drawl peppered with words and phrases that amuse her father but aren't necessarily understood by everyone else.

Character History: Rebecca was Acknowledged at Eric's Cornation, much to the surprise of everyone present. It is known that she was raised on a horse ranch in Shadow Cimarron, is almost as fond of her father as she is her horse - Demon, finds Gerard fun to drink with, and anyone who can tame that monster of a horse out in Arden has at least her attention. Finn is unique to her experience (as she is to his) and she finds him amusing. One might even suspect she goes out of her way to confuse him. Florimel despairs every time she hears the jingle of Rebecca's spurs. She spends a lot of time outside the castle; learning the city and what it has to offer, and camping out under the stars when she can get away with it.

Personality: Rebecca tends to an odd mixture of honest curiosity and brutal honesty. Laid back and casual, she's perfectly content to let quite a bit roll right over her. On the other hand, if you get her riled, she's perfectly content to take it out of your hide. She is very much a Daddy's Girl in some respects, and is more likely to get up in your face for bad-mouthing Eric then for trying to insult her - and she doesn't care who you are. Once she decides you're her friend, there isn't much of anything she won't do for you if needed. On the other hand, if you're an enemy she won't cross the road to spit on you if you were on fire. She has a rather earthy sense of humor and doesn't even bat an eye when the language and stories turn off-color; she usually joins right in if she is not actually the instigator.

Colors, symbols, traits: Black, red, silver. She already has a Coat of Arms registered with the Amber College of Heralds, though she has yet to understand why she needs one.

Additional Information: Rebecca has already shown herself to be more then proficient with the 12-foot bullwhip she sometimes wears on her hip. She has little use for swords, but can do some serious mob management with thrown daggers and axes, and the pearl handled grip of her six-shooter. She plays the guitar, but it usually only comes out when she's alone or been drinking.

Character Name: Faylinn (Fay for short)

Physical Description: Fay is a woman of average height, with bright blue eyes and long dark brown hair; the exact length varies from shoulder-length to the more common waist-length. She seems to have inherited little more than haircolor from her father, Benedict; her features are rounded and soft, and her hair is generally twisted and curled rather than straight. Her clothing choices sometimes seem unusual; depending on the weather, she may show up in dark, ornate dresses, corsets and skirts, or vibrant Arabic clothes.

Character History: Faylinn came from a Shadow she refers to as Cappadocia; she rarely speaks of it, aside from sometimes cryptic comments about sunlight, darklight, and Others. It's known that she spent time in New Avalon; she and Finn seem to know each other well. She is also known to have spent a significant amount of time traveling Shadow with her father. Much of the rest of her history, however, is vague; she spends time out in Shadow, and in Arden and the wild landscapes of Amber - but also in the manicured gardens and terraces of the city and the palace.

Personality: Fay is generally friendly, but she can be very focused on the natural world, and at times very quirky and strange because of it. She's highly intelligent and always willing to share what she knows. She is neither strikingly honest nor strikingly dishonest.

Colors, symbols, traits: Blue, black, and gold, though she is clearly not bound to wearing just these colors. Letters received from her are sealed with a design of a feline pawprint enclosed in a leaf.

Additional Information: Faylinn likes plants and animals; they, in turn, seem to quite like her. She never seems to carry any weapon more dangerous than a simple dagger.

Character Name: Kade [Arkadios], Prince of the Vale

Physical Description:
Standing a little over six feet tall, Kade is a big man yet lithe and athletic, strength and vitality oozes from him. He smiles often, his teeth are white and even, his hair dark, near black and cut short, a pale skinned man, Kade’s eyes are blue.

His face is not exactly handsome, not ugly either but its squareness of jaw and robust masculinity make for a homely appearance. He moves with grace, poised and obviously agile. His hands are strong and square, his fingers strangely blunt also.

By choice he dresses in red, many shades of red, dark or light.

Character History:
A recent arrival in Amber, something of a mystery, Kade is thought to be a native of shadow Peladon, a harsh rocky place, somewhat without the Golden circle. Often seen in the company of Caine and Gerard, less often with Julian.

Kade was introduced to the King by Prince Caine as Prince of the Vale and he soon became a common sight within the Castle and about the city. Many believe that Kade is Caine’s son, as yet he has not been acknowledged. Even so the rumor persists, for Kade stands shoulder to shoulder with the young Amberites or seems to, it is plain he considers himself their equal.

Personality:
A man of many moods, loud and boisterous, or quiet and serious, Kade seems to consider himself a match for any man or woman, Amberite or no. A proud man, yet not haughty, given to forthright speech. Perhaps at times overly bold, some consider this trait an affectation, a ruse perhaps.

Colors, symbols, traits:
Red, in whole or in part Kade will dress in some shade of red.
His symbol is a Red Bear upon black.

Additional Information:
An able warrior, fairly new to Amber.

Character Name: Daniel, Baron of Windborne

Physical Description: It is obvious he is the son of Flora as soon as you look at him, though his hair is straighter, and his facial features a bit sharper. He also has her blue eyes and slight build, though he is quite a bit taller. He tends to dress formally unless circumstances forbid it, though he always has a gold rose on some item of clothing, usually on a left sleeve. If outside of his home, he always wears a hooded cloak and braids his hair.

Character History: Little is known of Daniel besides his parentage and the fact that he had been presented to the King. He has spoken to none of his other family since his arrival. He is from a shadow called Windborne, but he avoids discussing it. His short time in Amber has been spent mostly in the company of his mother, and in the library, though recently he has been seen simply wandering.

Personality: Daniel is polite and formal to nearly everyone he meets, and though he will rarely initiate conversations, he will participate in them if spoken directly to. He is more of a listener than a talker, and prefers to observe others. Though most think him withdrawn, he likes the company of others, and is invariably friendly and helpful to those who take the time to get to know him. Though recent events have made him colder and isolated, he has wanted to get out and meet the family, and get to know his new home.

Colors, symbols, traits: His colors are dark green and black, with gold accents. His symbol is a blasted tree with a gold rose hanging from a low branch.

Additional Information: Always carries a thick black sword on his left hip.

Character Name: Altair, King of Rien

Physical Description:

Altair stands tall and proud like a prince, but often looks tired and sickly. His wears a wild mane of red hair with streaks of silver that is often unkempt, but never in his face. If anyone studies his face enough, they will soon notice the bags that seem to never leave him. Despite this, his features are clear, sharp, and defined. His eyes shine a deep, almost grey blue. His face is hard, but he carries a soft smile that is seen most by women of the court.

He always seems taller than usual, but does not stand over 5' 11''. It has been whispered that he walks just like his father, Brand, as though always on a mission. He always wears ornate clothing, dressing as his Princely title dictates. His build is a little thicker than expected, but he is not terribly defined. His eyes are often focused forward, giving off a cold and private feel.

Character History:

Altair first arrived in Amber at the age of 14. He fell in love with the possibilities of it all and lived there until he could walk the Pattern. Until then, he spent as much time as possible with his father, and his aunts and uncles. He was loved by all then. One day he departed for his home shadow of Rien, only to return a couple of years later completely changed.

Once fun loving, the few years in shadow seemed to have changed everything about him. Still spending much time with his relatives, he began to define himself more in the court. He is known to spend time with the young ladies and is more than willing to show new arrivals around the court. He has been known to travel into shadows at various times with many relatives, mainly Bleys. However, few of his travels into shadow were made alone and none lasted longer than a couple of years.

Each return from shadow has turned him a little more cold and a lot more private.

Personality:

Altair's personality varies from his father's in only slight ways. He is often moody and stubborn, accepting very little correction from anyone he has ever met. He prefers the casual company of women, but ignores everyone around him when facing with a personal problem. When he talks, he makes sure he is heard. He is known to be cunning, and rarely ever seen with a weapon.

Colors, symbols, traits:

Maroon, Gold, and hints of silver.
His symbol is a lantern where the flame on the candle is a heart.

Additional Information:

Although not known to do evil, it is known that it is not wise to cross his path.

Character Name: Ian, son of Deirdre, a.k.a. Ian Cassidy

Physical Description:

Most people couldn't give you a good description of Ian. He is fair-skinned, which is offset by his jet black hair. Sometimes he is clean-shaven, other times he sports facial hair. He blends in well at parties and can go for some length of time without even being noticed. He dresses in black most of the time, although something white and something azure are always on his person. His eyes are blue, and his resemblance to his mother is obvious. He is just under 6 feet tall and only dresses formally when appropriate.

Character History:

Ian has been in Amber or Rebma most of his life. A dutiful son to his mother, he trained with her with weapons at length when he was growing up. As a teenager, he fell in love with Aunt Florimel, which is probably the worst-kept secret in all of Amber. Becoming old enough to be of use to Oberon, he joined Amber's espionage service, and has done many missions for the Crown.

He was sent into Shadow, to the Shadow called Shadow-Earth to look for Corwin. Deirdre believed him to be in New Orleans. He spent years searching for the missing uncle, who of course was nowhere near New Orleans. Ian made his money first as a bartender, then as a fencing instructor.

Personality:

Ian doesn't suffer insults well. He is very polite, unless something is bothering him in which case his temper rivals that of Oberon. He can get moody and irritable, and when that happens he shuts up and he shuts down, preferring the company of strong drink, jazz music and a cigarette. When something strikes him in a sentimental way he acts as un-Amberite as pretty much anyone could imagine. Nobody is sure what will touch him and bring out that softer side. Nobody has ever seen him pick a fight or accept a fight. There are rumors that he dabbles in witchcraft.

Colors, symbols, traits:

Black, black and black. Plus a little white and azure.
His symbol is a white and black sword on a reversed black and white field. A large blue stone is the pommel of the sword.

Additional Information:

Has called Eric a usurper to his face, but will still serve Amber, in the unlikely event that he is wrong, and because he loves Amber.

Character Name: April, daughter of Deirdre

Physical Description:

April is a tall, muscular young woman with black hair that is unruly, even cut short. She moves with a deliberate, almost slow, precision that contrasts markedly with the effortless grace of her cousins.

Character History:

Deirdre kept April close, during the years that she spent on the move, looking for Corwin from one shadow to the next. April has only recently been introduced to Rebma, much less Amber, and knows most of the family only by reputation.

Personality:

April smiles easily, and angers easily. She seems recklessly free of guile (and sometimes of tact), though there are some who point out that the appearance of innocence is the best ruse of a crafty youngster.

Colors, symbols, traits:

April wears white and red more than most colors, though she can just as easily be spotted running around in black, or green, or blue or grey, depending on what clothes are easiest to hand. She does, however, heavily favor slacks or shorts, almost to the exclusion of skirts even on formal occasions. She also has a tendency toward gloves and boots with a lot of wrist and ankle support, perhaps because of the many sports she engages in.

Additional information:

April seems more interested in formalized play sports than in the manly arts of warfare. While she spends little time with a sword in her hand, she is often seen climbing, swimming, running or any of several other ways to build physical fitness. Given more than a few hours of free time, she will frequently organize a pair of teams for one or another of the games she has brought back from shadow with her.

Character Name: Orcini, Knight of the Grand Order of Oberon

Physical Description:

Everything about him was black; his jacket, his pants, his boots, his gloves, and even his expression. His long dark hair was tied in a pony-tail. A goatee beard grew at his chin. He carried a wooden sword-cane which had the head of a dragon on the silver-tipped handle. A single medal, a white unicorn on a golden crown, hung from his left breast pocket. One could see in his eyes the weariness of a man tired and exhausted. Being in the Grand Order of Oberon, he had faced death many times.

Character History:

Little is known about Orcini since his arrival in Amber six months ago. He sought an audience with King Oberon and only begrudgingly accepted an audience with King Eric instead. He was given rooms in the castle and was seen meeting with His Majesty often until he again left for a few months and only recently returned once more. Orcini freely identifies himself as a Knight of the Grand Order of Oberon even though there has been no such order in existence for centuries.

Personality: Orcini is a quiet man. He listens far more than he speaks. However, he does not shun conversation and indulges in philosophical debate as a favorite pastime. He has a serious demeanor and is very focused once given a task to do. All in all, he is a soldier albeit a deep thinking one.

Colors, symbols, traits: Black is his color and the medal of his Order is the only adornment he allows himself.

Additional Information: He has been said to remark on how different Amber is now that when he last saw it and often call things by different names. He’ll refer to the Royal Palace as The Keep for example.
