Orcini ignores the pain of the stinging algae for the moment. The flesh of the beast is rank and foul but he had eaten worse. Still, the more important fact is that a reanimate has no vital organs to stab at nor will it care about pain. He must disable the beast and fast. Orcini crawls along the side of the whale until he can wrap around the tail. Then he begins to tear at the flesh until he can rip the tail free from the rest of the great beast.

Using all of his strength, Orcini cuts into the poorly protected flesh with ease but the whale's fat is protecting it. In the meantime, some of his tentacles are going numb from the algae, and strength is leaving him here and there in his body.

The whale sings a horrendous song of pain and Orcini's brain feels about ready to explode. Yet, the whale is going to miss its intended target if Orcini sticks to his plan.

If this form had teeth, Orcini would grit them. Orcini trusts his suckers to remain latched to this great beast even if his strength fails him. He has committed to far to this course of action to turn back now. So he keeps tearing at flesh, blubber and algae with the last of his strength. A distant part of his mind chuckles at the thought that he might be biting off more than he could chew.

When underwater colors begin to fade around Orcini, he can tell that he won't be able to hold on much longer. Then his shapeshifted form adapts and the toxins are quickly flushed outside of his bloodstream. He is weakened but the algae does not seem to affect him any longer.

The beast finally reaches the surface and hits the back portion of the 'Cavalier'. A great splash reaches the surface with the wounded whale and another sea beast attached to it. The men do not attempt to engage the whale or the tentacled beast attacking it. They are returning to the 'White Rose'.

Orcini realizes the frigates are taking different courses. The whale oozes a lot of the tainted fluid and moves powerfully toward the Black Tide.

Orcini releases the beast almost reluctantly and jets toward the fleeing whaling boats. Let the beast swim screaming to whatever dark refuge it chooses to skulk in. It is no longer a threat and that is enough. Orcini stays deep until he almost beside the boats and then gradually rises until his form is once again the humanoid one that they know as Orcini. "Ahoy, the boats!" He calls out to them. "Throw me a line!"

Surprised, the sailors throw him a line after all. One of them yells back, "We thought you'd been lost for good!"

They pull him up and Orcini feels a bit nauseated from the combination of flushed toxins and the drastic change of scenery. Thankfully it has passed by the time they reach the 'Cavalier'. The boat is hoisted up and Orcini is given a blanket.

OOC: On the Cavalier or the White Rose?

Orcini accepts the blanket but doesn't truly need to use it. His body is already adjusting to the chill and the water which covered him is quietly absorbed into his own body. He throws over his shoulder in case it is needed later. Orcini walks to the helm to speak with the captain or the princeling that is nominally in charge of this vessel. He wants to see the Black Tide for himself. If that whale was just a taste of things to come, Orcini wanted to be ready.

Orcini gets suspicious look from this crew while the soldiers are rather indifferent. He doesn't look like anyone else and his uniform is non-descript enough that they don't know what to make of him.

Somewhere on the deck is Altair. He is looking into a trump.

Two other Amberlings are up on deck, Daniel, son of Flora, and another one Orcini does not recognize but who looks rather princely.

Orcini shrugs off the reactions of the crew and the soldiers like he shrugged off the cold. He would speak with Altair but he is loathe to interrupt a conversation through the cards. Orcini is still unclear on the various branches of Amber's family tree but the get of Flora do not impress. Still, they talk. That is what Orcini needs at the moment. Orcini strides with purpose up to Daniel and addresses him. "Lord Daniel, my name is Orcini, Knight of the Grand Order of Oberon and once we arrive in Greymoor it is I that will be your guide. Might I speak with you?"
