Eric avoids looking in her eyes as he pulls away from her and admits, "I probably shouldn't have done that." After a short yet awkward pause, "I hope this does not jeopardize our agreement."

He takes both their glasses and the bottle. Krugalt neighs in his stall, regarding the two Amberites from afar.

"Hey, you," April says with concern in her voice. She reaches out to take him by the arm, leans forward and (if he does not resist) gently kisses him again.

Eric kisses back and lets her take his left arm, holding the bottle and glasses in his right hand. They make their way out of the stables. Outside the sun is still setting, casting a warm light upon the castle towers. The moon is already visible, large and three quarter waxing.

Eric smiles, "Let's take it easy then. No reason rushing into anything you would come to regret..." His tone is serious, but he brings his left arm around her left hip and pinches her playfully.

As they arrive at the stable entrance, he says "I don't want you to feel like you're being taken advantage of, after all."

Outside the sun is still setting, casting a warm light upon the castle towers. The moon is already visible, large and three quarter waxing.

Making their way back to the castle, Ariana is waiting outside. Ariana walks to April and curtsies low to her and the King.

At the King's pinch and his teasing, April tries to look aggrieved, but a smile ruins it. "Incorrigible," she accuses.

As they approach Ariana, April chews a little, nervously, on her lip, but doesn't disentangle herself immediately. When Ariana is done with her curtsy, April smiles a bit sheepishly and shrugs.

"So ... uh ..." she ventures, "Am I ... very late?"

"You are still early, Lady April," Ariana answers with a soft spoken voice. "We have an hour to get ready for tonight's feast."

Eric whispers, his hands to himself. "That's only if you don't want to be fashionably late. I would suggest an hour and a half."
Then, in a clear voice, Eric faces her and says, "Lady April." He takes her hand and kisses it. "I will see you at dinner."

April trails along behind. "Well, I ... " she scrunches her forehead and eyes. "God, my family has the whole color spectrum mapped out like battle lines, don't they?"

She smiles are Ariana then, and says "Well I got 'em fooled! I like white. I think it suits me ... and, plus, it's easy to accent. Throw in a little red, maybe ..." she glances up and sees Eric's flag flapping in the evening breeze, "... or mabye not. I dunno. Needs something. White on white is way too bridal."

"What do you think?" April says, looking intently at Ariana. "Got any ideas?"

Ariana thinks about it for a bit, then suggests tentatively, "Yellow, perhaps? Not gold, but perhaps a pastel or light yellow? It would not be overwhelming, but if we find the right hue and fabric we might be able to create a good combination with white."

She looks at April attentively, and says in her soft-spoken and sweet voice "You have lovely skin tone. I'm quite certain yellow and white would make a good combination for you. What do you think, Lady April?" Ariana bites her lower lip a little.

Finally, they come around a corner and arrive at the corridor leading to April's chamber. In front of her door, half a dozen servants and three men in fancy clothing holding heavy gowns and bearing gift boxes await...

April shrugs. "It's daring," she says, "but if you think you can do it without making me look like an easter egg, then let's go for it!"

April settles back, preparing herself for the unaccustomed task of dithering for at least ninety minutes.

Ariana looks worried, "I'm not sure what an easter egg is, but I... Well, I only gave you my opinion because you have asked for it, my Lady. I wouldn't dare presume to know what these gentlemen might propose." She stops her advance to April's room and suggests, "Perhaps they have better and more proper ideas than I would." She looks down and says, "Lady April, to be truthful, I'm sorry to admit that I have little experience in these matters. I can help you prepare but I am not used to having to decide what is in your best interest. I remain hopeful that in time I can learn to become a more wholesome maid and confidante."

April pauses for a long moment, looking at the girl with the downcast eyes. "Ohhhhhh," she says, finally, "You are just so sweet! I could eat you up!"

"Figuratively," she quickly corrects. "I don't know what sort of stories get told around here, but that's just a figure of speech."

As the various couturiers bear down on her, April has a quick, hunted moment. "Okay now ... I know you've got me outnumbered, but let's not let things get too out of control here, right?"

"... Right?"

Ariana looks decidedly frightened at April's comment and her eyes grow large until she corrects herself. Then she tries to laugh and manages to do so, nervously and as quietly as manageable.

After many 'Lady Aprils' and calls to attention and 'look at these', just as April is about to get truly annoyed, a voice echoes powerfully in the hallway, "ONE AT A TIME! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!" When the attention has properly shifted to Ariana, she smoothes her dress and says calmly, "Now, Lady April would appreciate if you would wait outside and you will be brought in one at a time..." Loud and immediate protests and Ariana raises her hand and makes a shushing motion. "Alphabetically!"

Ariana opens the door to April's chambers and closes the door behind the Amberite. "Whew." Ariana is now quite red and looks at April with a sort of relieved smile.
