Finn sighs, and halves their speed, "We'll stop on the city outskirts. I don't want to stop this close to the refugees." There is a brief pause, "I am not a diplomat, Fay. I have called for such, to lure officers out, but general that is not my strong suit." He smiles slightly, "Talk faster."

"I know." Faylinn relents after a moment and gives Finn an answering smile. "I am trying now to find out what they are doing here; I suspect that will give us the answer as to what must be done. But I think I would rather stop a mile or so from the outskirts. They are... over-eager for me to come to them, and I mislike it."

"That's good news." Finn repllies evenly. He slows the group down even more, letting Blake lead the horses, and eventually rings them to a halt. "Faylinn, I like not the sound of this overlord. It sounds as if they are waiting for leadership. Once they have it, what will they do?"

Just as she expected, the children of Silver City have gone silent. Instead, the static increases to headache size. They are beginning to push, steadily, as if someone were turning the volume knob with regularity.

Finn eyes Faylinn for a moment, his expression unreadable, as he replies, "Well, yes, that is not a surprise. What is your verdict. Is this a problem we need to deal with directly or will a wholesale approach settle matters for a time?" He gestures, "I can likely arrange for the City to be cut off, with some effort. Unless you think we will learn more by actually entering the City, I am leaning towards the latter."

"I doubt we will learn much more by entering the city," Faylinn answers with a shake of her head. "I suspect the question of the overlord they wait for is one that will be resolved after we depart, if we do nothing. There is little enough else that I cannot guess from what we have learned so far about these beings."

As they trek forward in the direction of silver city, the columns of smoke continue to rise to the skies. The moonlight and the starlight shines down, but something disturbing can be seen.

Several hundred lanterns or flashlights appear suddenly, perhaps ten miles away. They glimmer in the distance, giving Silver City the appearance of a modern setting. The lights turn, focusing, and begin to move in the travellers' direction.
