Faylinn is successful and when she and Finn 'return', they find the man's mark resembles a nasty scar, it's dark hue has faded entirely. The man is staring at the overcast sky, his breathing slow and shallow.

Faylinn cedes custody of the man to Finn and goes looking for a scrap of relatively clean cloth to use to wipe down her dagger before she puts it away.

She pauses to regard the heads; she spends far too much time investigating nature to be bothered by the blood and gore. "You might have waited," she says after a moment. "I could have shaped the wood to hold them."

"You were busy, Fay. You can root them now if you like." Finn handles the last man as he had the others, and cleans his blade again. "Let's be out of here, and swiftly. Do you think Poppins' wound will hold together?" He holds his hand out to her, so he can help her back down to the horses, and then joins her by sliding down and jumping into Blake's saddle.

"What did you learn?"

Faylinn shakes her head. "There is barely enough for them to survive up here. It will be kinder to let them find their own way." She neatly takes his hand for the assist downward, though she manages just find without it, and pauses to inspect the mare's shoulder before mounting. "I think it will be all right. If there is a problem, I will let you know. I may discuss with Rebecca whether we should trade her out for a different horse while we are here; she will be better off resting to heal this than being magically healed several times."

She swings up into the saddle and waits for Finn and Blake to take the lead. "There was a knight - a very large man, it seemed to the dying man. He had a very large horse to suit his size, and a slitted helm with antlers. The more alive one named him 'Lord Thestiel.' He came from the Black Road, with creatures and machinery, and apparently a floating castle, and took over the place. Powers were granted to those he recruited, presumably through the marks we saw." She sighs and shakes her head irritably. "I hate possessions. They are not natural."

"We'll need to check the people in Cimarron for that sigil. Make sure no one is corrupted." Finn scowls, "Possession is the worst kind of evil. Mine said another name, Veshiek, or something similar." He shakes his head, "These maybe hard troops. Actual Chaos folk." He gestures at the storm, "Let's get a move on."

Finn begins to lead them away from there, making for Cimarron with haste, careful to mind the pace for Poppins.

Poppins seems to handle the ride just fine and it seems the sorcerous healing has taken root.

Before they have a chance to cross the plain, Finn senses the approach of trump contact.

Finn slows down and reaches out to touch Faylinn, "This may be our ride." He taps the side of his head, and then draws his pistol before accepting the contact. "I hope you're a friendly face..."
