Flora finally turns to Ian and says, "This is beyond my skill, Ian. I think perhaps it is best we leave this place and block the entry of this cave... What do you think?" _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage

"I think that's an excellent idea."
With Flora, he walks over to the door and goes to open it. |

| As Ian walks up the slope with Flora, his fingers trace the roof, looking for a crack which might be a good place to swing a magical sword a few or a dozen or a hundred times to cause a cave in. He calculates how long he might have from first swing to first damaging swing to escaping and figures worst case he could double back faster and have Flora trump him out. All in all, this shouldn't be too dangerous... |

Flora takes the key, after locking the door and says, "That's a start. I imagine Eric will want access to it at some point." The darkness has encroached them fully again. He can hear her fidgeting in her robes. Ian hears the click of a lighter and soon he can see a few feet around. Flora looks down both ways of the cavern and asks, seeing where Ian is headed to, "Do you know where the other end of the passage leads to?"
Ian can tell it would take a lot of work to collapse the passage they are in, but the tunnel up, where the chain spills down into the mountain, he is quite certain it can be collapsed with much less work on his part. The semi-constant winds have had their effect upon the rocky fissure, after all. _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage

"Other end? Ah shit. I missed it in the darkness." He grins. "I generally don't carry a lighter with me."
He laughs a little bit, and then looks down the heretofore unknown passage.
"Damn it. We should see what's down there. Maybe some giant Trump cards or something. What do you think?" |

"I think that in the end, Daniel might need to forfeit this mountain to Eric. We can let him handle the exploring, at this point... I'm not risking being trapped here just to satisfy my curiosity. At least we know the nature of the thing, and that's enough to hand things over to someone more capable of dealing with it." _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage

"Then maybe collapsing the only way in is a mistake. Why don't you Trump Eric and have him post a company of guards here. It would be easier than trying to dig through any collapse I make, and a lot safer for who comes after we do."
He walks up to Flora.
"I forgot to mention, we are now semi-allied with the bird people. Or at least we aren't hostile." He grins. |

She looks at Ian's features by the light of her lighter. "Well, I wouldn't mind offering Windborne back to my son - sans Pattern - and the bird people are probably the only hostiles around..."
After a few steps, Flora asks, do you think Gerard has already warned Eric? I don't want to bother Eric myself, really..." _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage

"I would not presume to know my uncle's mind. However, I said it before and will say it again. It is your Pattern, and whatever you wish to do with it, I will help you and support you in any way possible."
He smiles. "Command me, Princess." |

"I would love it if you would contact Eric, when we get to the outside that is... Oh darn, what's the point, Gerard must have told him by now anyway... I should probably not have dragged you in this mess, Ian."
Flora continues to hold his arm with her hand and the lighter with her other hand. _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage

The flame of the lighter goes out as wind travels through the tunnel quickly towards the exit. Ian knows what it means. Interestingly enough, he and Flora both notice a glow coming from the only exit. The iron chain makes clicks as well as someone seems to be traveling down using it. _________________ AmberCon Arizona Webpage
