"I wonder how April's doing?" Ian muses aloud.

As he approaches the Captain and his men, he looks for those tell-tale signs of an ambush. Shifty eyes, people slowly moving into advantageous positions, hands moving nervously near their weapons or anything more overt.

Flora and Ian continue heading towards the Captain.

"Me too, I hope she's doing alright. Oh... There she is, I think," Flora says without pointing.

Ian has also noticed her, up the mountain a bit, toward the forest. They could reach the Captain and his men before her or time it right. So far, the birdmen have not noticed April.

The soldiers are at rest, with only Brek and Nok standing around the Captain. Nothing seems out of the ordinary and the tension he felt a bit earlier seems gone.

Captain Sigmer'Lune rises from his boulder and holds his hand up in greeting.

Ian picks up the pace without noticeably doing so. If there is an ambush to be sprung, he's going to do it without endangering April.

"Good day!" He calls to the Captain as he gets to him. "We will meet at sundown with your new ally." He smiles.

April catches Ian's eye and raises an eyebrow as she continues walking toward the group.

"Excellent!" the Captain yells back, a broad smile on his face. He waits for Ian and Flora to get closer. Brek and Nok sit down with the others. "Does he require an apology for our violent behavior or has he chosen to accept the terms as is?" he asks, loud enough to cover the wind. He continues to smile, satisfied, and holds his hand out to Ian to shake it.

The soldiers have now noticed April approaching.

"Wonderful, Lord Ian, Lady Flora. Thank you very much. I am very glad that you chose not to skewer my soldiers in the cave and instead decided to help us out with our goals. Will you take us to Lord Ashelt when time has come, or will you spare the details of our meeting now?"

Behind Sigmer'Lune, a bird soldier beats his wings loose just a bit as he waves back at April. Sigmer'Lune turns his head quickly, beyond the rotation angle a normal human neck could handle. When he turns his head back to Ian he asks, "Is she with you also?"

April looks intently at Ian, waiting to hear his response.

He walks up to the Captain.

"Lord Ashelt said we would hammer out an agreement in the North Tower Observatory at sundown. He is not just going to give up the Tower for nothing, but he is a reasonable man, and I have every confidence, that we will all walk...or fly...away from this meeting with what we want, and what will serve all of us well."

Sigmer'Lune turns around again to look at April. When he turns back to Ian, he holds his hand out once more for Ian to shake, saying, "Would you introduce us, please?"

Flora smiles and goes to April.

The soldiers remain seated, looking at April and trying to size her up. A couple of them smile, which only seems to be reflected in their eyes and the corners of their sharp beaks.

"April, this is Captain Sigmer'Lune, whom we will be assisting in working out a beneficial and mutual defense treaty with Lord Ashelt."

April smiles toothily and takes Sigmer'Lune's hand in a hearty hand-shake. "Good to meet you," she says warmly. "I'm sure this will all go splendidly."

Sigmer'Lune also bares his teeth in a broad smile, "It is good to make your acquaintance, Lady April of Amber." He lets go of April's hand. Flora shares a smile with April and takes her left arm.

Captain Sigmer'Lune asks Ian, "Would you three like to stay for a meal? We have a camp set-up in an area much less windy than here, in the cover of the rocks and trees in the valley below. I'm sure that we will become fast friends, Lord Ian. You've already done so much for us." He seems sincere, and Ian realizes he may have been paranoid about the whole thing... Unless, the Captain and his soldiers are trained tricksters used to situations like this.
