Slot 1 = 7pm-1am, Thursday August 28th 2008.
Game 2 : A Change in the State of Amber (Murray Writtle)
Genre: Near Amber, post-alternate-patternfall leaping back to pre-chronicle times. This is an excercise in amnesia.
Minimum/Maximum Players Preferred: 4-5
Synopsis:
Realizing that you could time travel within the lives of your own bloodline, you stepped into the fount of fire and vanished. You stare at an unknown face in the mirror. A feisty little guy in a multi-coloured suit, tie and waistcoat, clenching a cigar, appears out of nowhere. He stares ferociously at a jewelled box in his left hand and thumps it exasperatedly. It squawks. He looks at you and takes in your dawning incomprehension. "Not again!" he mutters. "Listen, your memory is Swiss-cheesed. When the Green Knight killed Dierdre and Corwin went over the edge trying to save her, Brand fried Fiona and now we're all goose-stepping. It doesn't have to be like that. Ghostwheel isn't sure what you're here to do, but we should have some percentages once Merlin programs the new datascan." He flickers and disappears. Can you put right what once went wrong?
"Oh Boy!", Dr Sam Beckett Quantum Leap
Additional Game Info:
Your parent kept you hidden in shadow or never knew you. Random and Benedict found you, gave you some garbled story about your ancestral immortal demi-god rulers of time and space, shoved you round a Pattern-thing and threw you in a pillar of fire in a beseiged castle of unlikely geology never mind geography.
You draw a random set of powers and attributes and don't get to see it. Maybe you'll get to find out some of it. Half the time you don't remember who you are or how you got here. Time-travel is like that... apparently.
Obviously if you don't get to pick your powers or even know what they are, or remember all the details of your name, where you come from and what you used to do, then classic character generation is going to be a bit difficult.
The following are the key questions. Remember (!) you were probably the best at whatever you did and any of the book powers or attributes could have helped you achieve that. You are younger generation Amberites whose parents kept them carefully hidden, or never knew about them, during the first series of books. In desperation under Brand's tyrannical heel, Random and Benedict sought you out and "recruited" you.
So character traits, attitudes, habits and skills, social background and culture are going to be the key to defining a character. Just be completely vague about how they were the best at what they did (if they cared to be or ever found out that they were the best...).
Any level of technology is ok(Mwah Ha Ha) , any social structure or culture, though if you are interested, you will mostly be functioning near Amber, pre-series one and you will be in the body of one of your ancestors.
1) Who are you?
2) What was your profession? Hobbies?
3) What is your attitude to life and other people?
Please reply to this post if you would like to play!
