Game 1 : Dangerous Relations (Murray Writtle) 10 AM – 3 PM
Genre: In the universe of Corwin's Pattern less than a century after Patternfall in an eternal city modelled on the Paris of the Musketeers.
Minimum/Maximum Players Preferred: 3-5
Synopsis: You are the flower, the veritable Rose d'Argent of 17th Century France! Your patron Duke Athos Corbeau has retired to his Richelieu estates now the good of France dictates he pass the baton to someone still in the prime of life. The Duke seems sunk in melancholy. The death of his sister perhaps still weighs heavy. The youngest of his cabal of one-time guardsmen, the finest blade who ever lived is no more. The legendary strength of Gerard Porthos fails and he is consoled only by his mistress. Cardinal Aramis Mazarin alone retains the legendary faculties that equip him to serve as the nation's Prime Minister, for the good of France. But there are rumours he will disband the elite Cardinal's Guard and in the name of unity allow those wastrel, dilettante Musketeer poodles to represent the flower of French chivalry. What a mockery! Their games grow more cruel and Athos and Aramis no longer speak.

NPC’s
Athos Corbeau, Duc de Richelieu, is a remarkable man. He would have to be to be Prime Minister of France. But the more so as it is rumoured there is a dark melancholy in his past. You are probably among the few who know that many, many years ago he was forced to hunt down and execute a former mistress for poisoning his beloved sister. His retirement came soon after the death of his dead sister's daughter, Camille, who he had raised almost as his own. She was a slender, beautiful but athletic young woman. Unusually she was admitted to the post of Mistress of the King's hounds. She died of a wasting disease of the lungs and probably died shivering and coughing up blood. Athos was famous in earlier years for daring deeds in company with his inseparable companions among the previous Minister's Guard.

Cyrano d'Artagnan the renowned artist and the finest swordsman France has ever known died about a year ago while resisting arrest for duelling.

Gerard Porthos is a giant out of legend, with utterly unbelievable tales of the feats of strength he accomplished in his youth. The years have begun to take their toll however, though this does not prevent him from being the favourite of one of the most beautiful women in Paris. Since d'Artagnan passed away he has been Captain of the Cardinal's Guard, though his appetite for the role seems diminished by the loss of his friend.

Aramis Mazarin, now Cardinal and appointed Prime Minister, has long been accounted the most accomplished philosopher, wit and courtier the realm has ever known. while an able soldier and fiendish strategist, he was acknowledged by far the least accomplished swordsman of the four. Since becoming responsible for France's welfare he has become a brooding, driven man determined that nothing stand in the way of The Good Of France. He enacted the King's Edict against the practice of duelling shortly after his accession to power. His stern enforcement led to the death of Cyrano d'Artagnan. It would seem he is preparing for an almost inevitable war with Spain. Tennis and boxing have recently become popular sports among young military gentlemen.
